Linda Gibson was a graduate of the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, and has taught music in schools for over 30 years. During her secondary teaching career, mostly at Jordanhill College School and Park Mains High School, she has enjoyed conducting various school choirs and wind bands, taken on the role of musical director in several shows and accompanied many pupils in their SQA examinations.
For the past seven years Linda has worked as a primary music specialist in East Renfrewshire assisting in the development of a programme of work for delivery to all stages in the primary sector. The musicianship lessons for the programme are based on the principles of Kodály and she has had several opportunities to work with David Vinden, director of the Kodály Centre of London.
Within the East Renfrewshire choral programme Linda conducted the Training Choir for six years, accompanied and assisted in the training of the Intermediate and Senior choirs, and has taken part in many of the regional concerts, including performing the piano part in Carmina Burana under the direction of James Lowe.
Since the inception of NYCoS Renfrewshire Choir in 2003 she has been involved in accompanying and conducting some of the choirs at the annual presentations and at many other outside concerts.
For two years Linda sang in the Kilbarchan Singers under the direction of Oliver Rundell. Her passion for music, particulary singing, is great and she continues to enjoy the opportunity to work with the children and staff of NYCoS Renfrewshire Choir as choir director.
